Former U.S. poet laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera, was recently appointed this year's Frost Medal for lifetime achievement for his poems of solidarity, activism, and awareness. Herrera was named the first Latino to win the poet laureate of the United States in 2015.
Herrera is known for his decorated collections including Half the World in Light and 187 Reasons Mexicanos Can’t Cross the Border.
