Biography
Chris Carr is the new administrative assistant for the Department of American Ethnic Studies. He enjoys assisting and getting to know faculty and staff, learning the intricacies of working in higher education, and marveling the view from his office window! Chris grew up near Columbus, Ohio, and some time after graduating from the Ohio State University, he made the decision to move to Seattle, Washington. Once settled, Chris joined a local non-profit Asian adoptee organization called Asian Adult Adoptees of Washington. He is heavily involved by serving on its board of directors as president and treasurer as well as a mentor as part of the organization's Adoptee Mentorship Program. In addition, he serves on the executive board as secretary for the International Korean Adoptee Association, which serves as a network for adoptee organizations across the globe. His passion includes meeting, supporting, and empowering adoptees to connect and share their stories and perspectives with other adoptees. Chris is a transracial Korean adoptee, adopted as an infant, and has returned to Korea multiple times in the past 16 years.
